You don’t need to be fixed.
Pain is one of the ways your body speaks to you. Learn its language, as only the healing combination of physiotherapy and yoga can teach, and (finally) move through your world with ease.

Maybe you’ve started feeling frustrated with your body.
It’s letting you down with a nagging ache or a persistent pain.
And you’re tired of the never-ending search for "the thing" that will actually fix the problem. You've spent money on modality after modality. Sometimes you feel better, but the feeling eventually fades and you’re left wondering: was it even worth it?
And really, all you want is to keep active & move through your life with ease.
I want to get the kayak off the car myself.
I want to get up and down while gardening.
I want to play on the floor with the grandkids.
I want to practice yoga without worrying about hurting myself.
I want to hike 12km a day for Machu Picchu.
What if learning to hear what your body has been trying to tell you all along… is where feeling better actually begins?
TRUST YOUR BODY AGAIN
Let’s forget about everything that’s “wrong” for a second.
For the first 10 years of my physio career, finding what's wrong was the whole job:
Works great for a sprained ankle heading back to soccer. But it doesn't always work for pain that's been around for a while.
What if instead of focusing on what’s “wrong”… we worked with what your body is already doing right?
That's exactly what we do in the Movement Experience Lab.
Where you learn to understand your own body, and learn from everyone else's too.
A way of moving that blends the clinical reasoning of physiotherapy into yoga-inspired movement, so you start to learn how you move.
Join a live series, or start a self-paced one today.
This isn’t yoga for exercise… it’s smaller and slower than that.
There’s no fast flows or pushing through. Just very small, very intentional movements, so you can start to learn how you move.
Here's how it works:
YOU FOCUS ON ONE THING
Often it's just your leg bone, moving slowly in its socket.
WE NOTICE WHAT JOINS IN
A jaw that clenches.
A breath that stops.
A shoulder that lifts.
THEN WE ADJUST
And you feel the difference yourself.
"She is able to break down complex movements into smaller, more digestible steps, which helped me feel what was happening in my own body."
– Kim
You're not being "fixed" from the outside.
You're learning to understand yourself from the inside.
What changes when you start listening.
FROM INSIDE THE LAB
Featured story
"Crossing the finish line of my first race back brought me to tears."
“The confidence and awareness I gained gave me the courage to return to trail running after a five-year hiatus due to chronic back pain. It wasn't about being fast. It was about knowing and feeling that I could do it. I was able to stay present with my body's signals, adjust my pace, and finish pain-free.”
Deanna
Beth · chronic back pain
"It's a relief to know that each week I'll have a deep, honest check-in with how I'm moving and breathing, to keep me from reverting back to old bracing and gripping patterns that resulted in pain."
James · desk job
"Practicing the movements Kirsten has provided has reduced the tension in my lower back, hips and shoulders, allowing me to sit much more comfortably."
Adriana · everyday ease
"I always finish the classes feeling more balanced, relaxed, and comfortable in my body, and everyday movements just feel easier.”
There are two ways to join me.

BEFORE YOU ASK
Questions people ask me about the Lab.
-
Absolutely! The Movement Experience Lab is for anyone who wants to learn more about how they can feel better and move with more ease.
-
YES! One great benefit of practicing in your own home is that you can sit in your favorite chair, or lie on your couch or bed. Those options are always available to you. AND, don’t be surprised if getting down to the floor and getting back up again starts to feel easier as a result of the work you do in the Lab 🙂
-
When you register for a live series or a "go at your own pace" course, you will receive a welcome email containing a direct link to the program's online home.
This dedicated online home is your central hub where you will find:
Preparation materials and all the information you need before classes start.
Class recordings, which will be posted there for you to replay whenever you like.
Tip: Be sure to save or bookmark the link from your welcome email so you can easily return to your course page at any time!
-
Lay out your yoga mat in a place where you can stand in the middle of your mat, stretch out your arms to both sides and turn around without hitting anything.
Have some free wall space near by – you will be leaning against the wall, propping your arms and legs on the wall in many of our practices.
-
The following props do come in handy:
Block
Strap
Blanket
Pillow or bolster
If you don’t have the prop, no worries, we’ll improvise!
-
I would love to hear your questions and give you feedback in between classes! You can email info@kirstenrichardson.com to ask questions and have conversations with me!
-
Comfortable, stretchy clothes that you can move in. We are in the Lab, exploring and discovering which can get messy! Lab coats are optional 😉
ONE-ON-ONE
Rather have my full focus on your body?
For coming back from something big (a hip or knee replacement, a hospital stay), pain that keeps hanging around, or getting ready for a trip or a trail.
FROM THE DESK OF KIRSTEN RICHARDSON:
For the first 10 to 15 years of my career as a physio… I felt like a fraud.
The whole "find the problem" model wasn't working for me. So I decided to study yoga therapy, thinking I might leave physio behind completely.
Until the two started talking to each other, and the pieces fit into place. The clinical reasoning I'd spent decades building, and a new way of paying attention to how a whole person moved.
And then everything changed. The relationship I have with my clients. The results they were seeing. Their desire to do the work.
You aren't broken. Your body is doing what it's doing for a good reason, and pain… is just it’s way of talking to you.
That's the work I've dedicated my life to.
I'd love to help you know your body better.
